Canada allocates $21.5M for Alberta's carbon capture projects, aiming to reduce emissions.
Ottawa has announced $21.5 million for five carbon capture projects in Alberta to reduce emissions and lower the cost of carbon capture technologies.
The funding, part of the Energy Innovation Program, aims to capture 40,000 tonnes of CO2 annually, equivalent to removing over 12,000 cars from the road.
Projects include a $10 million investment for a compression and conditioning system by Inter Pipeline Ltd. and Entropy Inc., and funds for Enbridge and Enhance Energy Inc. storage hubs.
The announcement comes amid uncertainty over a large carbon capture project by the Pathways Alliance.
