Jordan slashes car import taxes, favoring electric vehicles and tightening safety standards.
The Jordanian government has reduced customs duties on imported vehicles to boost the economy and encourage eco-friendly vehicle adoption.
Taxes on gasoline cars are cut from 71% to 51%, hybrid taxes from 60% to 39%, and electric vehicles now have a unified tax rate of 27%.
The reforms also tighten import regulations, requiring imported cars to meet technical standards from Europe, the US, or the GCC, and ban the import of electric vehicles over three years old or classified as salvage.
