Joseph Cavallaro is charged with attempting to murder his 71-year-old mother by attacking her with a cane.

Joseph Cavallaro, 44, is charged with attempted murder and other offenses after allegedly assaulting his 71-year-old mother with a cane at their Manchester Township home. The mother was critically but stably injured and taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Cavallaro was arrested but hospitalized due to a medical episode and will be taken to Ocean County Jail once released.
