Three hikers drowned after jumping into Rattlesnake Falls near Lake Tahoe, California, on June 18. Matthew Anthony from New York City and two others from Los Angeles did not resurface. Their bodies were recovered after a four-day search involving multiple rescue agencies, complicated by strong currents and poor visibility. Three other hikers in their group were airlifted out due to the challenging terrain.
