Nigerian leader Nnamdi Kanu faces trial for inciting economic disruption via smuggled radio broadcasts.
In an ongoing terrorism trial in Nigeria, the Department of State Services (DSS) claims that Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), caused economic disruption through his broadcasts, which incited sit-at-home orders and violence.
DSS testified that Kanu smuggled a radio transmitter into Nigeria hidden in household items, providing a video of him inspecting the device.
The court has accepted this evidence and adjourned the trial for further inspection.
Kanu has been in DSS custody since 2021.
