UK freezes £260m in assets linked to Bangladesh's ex-political figures amid corruption claims.
The UK's National Crime Agency (NCA) has frozen over £170m worth of properties in the UK belonging to Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, a former land minister of Bangladesh and an ally of the ousted leader Sheikh Hasina. This action follows requests from Bangladesh's interim regime to recover assets allegedly linked to corruption under Hasina's leadership. The NCA has also frozen £90m of property belonging to two members of the Rahman business dynasty as part of the crackdown.
