Her hand was mostly torn off, and she was aided by nearby construction workers before being airlifted to a Tampa hospital. Doctors successfully reattached her hand during a six-hour surgery. The family set up a GoFundMe to help cover medical expenses. This rare attack occurred in an area with no reported swimmer bites in about 20 years.
