Starting July 1, 2025, Indian Railways requires Aadhaar authentication for booking Tatkal tickets on the IRCTC website and app. From July 15, an additional Aadhaar-based OTP verification will be mandatory. Authorized ticketing agents are banned from booking Tatkal tickets during the first 30 minutes of availability to prevent bulk bookings. These changes aim to ensure transparency and prevent misuse of the Tatkal ticket scheme.
