The Boston Red Sox traded for right-handed pitcher Jorge Alcala from the Minnesota Twins, acquiring him for infield/outfield prospect Andy Lugo. Alcala, struggling with an 8.88 ERA this season, is joining the Red Sox to bolster their bullpen depth amid injuries. The Twins receive Lugo, a 21-year-old hitting .265 with four home runs in High-A Greenville this year. The Red Sox designated Brian Van Belle for assignment to make room for Alcala.
