Injured smokejumper rescued from Yellowstone after being blown off course during training.
On June 10, 2025, an injured smokejumper was rescued in Yellowstone National Park after being blown off course by strong winds during a training exercise and landing in a dense forest. The National Forest Service employee sustained a severe leg injury. Emergency services, including the Gallatin County Search and Rescue, Hebgen Basin Rural Fire District, and Yellowstone National Park Service, assisted in the rescue. An Idaho Air Methods helicopter airlifted the smokejumper to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for treatment.
