Texas high school students showed mixed progress in their most recent STAAR exams, with gains in STEM subjects like Algebra I and Biology, and declines in English and U.S. History.
Algebra I saw a 2% increase to 47% meeting grade level, while Biology improved by 5% to 62%.
English I and U.S. History saw decreases of 3% and 1%, respectively.
The state is also moving towards a new testing system with three shorter tests throughout the year to reduce student stress.
