Pakistan introduces new taxes on e-commerce and digital services, targeting revenue and compliance.
Pakistan's government has introduced new taxes on e-commerce and digital services, including a "Digital Transactions Proceeds Levy" and amendments to the Income Tax Ordinance 2001.
These changes will tax online marketplaces, foreign companies, and digital services ranging from 0.25% to 5%.
Online marketplaces must file monthly statements with vendor details, and payment intermediaries and couriers will collect taxes on digital transactions and cash-on-delivery sales.
The aim is to capture more revenue, estimated at Rs64 billion, and improve tax compliance in the digital sector.
