Denmark approves U.S. military bases; agreement includes protections against Greenland annexation.
Denmark's Parliament has approved a bill allowing the U.S. to set up military bases on its soil, expanding a 2023 agreement that gave U.S. troops broad access to Danish airbases.
The move comes as U.S. President Donald Trump has shown interest in Greenland, a Danish territory.
Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen stated that Denmark can end the agreement if the U.S. tries to annex Greenland.
The bill, which passed with 94 votes in favor and 11 against, now needs the Danish King's signature.
Greenland's prime minister has previously stated the island will not be sold.
