A small marble sculpture by French artist Auguste Rodin, long believed to be a copy, was authenticated as genuine and sold for nearly $1 million at an auction in France.
The sculpture, titled "Despair" and made in 1892, had been on display on a piano corner and was thought to be a replica by its owners.
After a six-week investigation by the Comite Rodin, it was confirmed authentic and sold for €860,000.
