Minnesota jury convicts Derrick Thompson of murder in fatal crash while fleeing police.

A Minnesota jury has convicted Derrick John Thompson, 29, of third-degree murder and vehicular homicide in the deaths of five young women, aged 17 to 20, during a 2023 car crash. Thompson was fleeing a state trooper when he sped through a red light, hitting the victims' car. He previously served time for a California hit-and-run and was also convicted of federal drug and firearms charges. Sentencing is set for July 24.
