Bank of Ireland warns of surge in "safe account" scams tricking customers into transferring funds.
Bank of Ireland has reported a significant spike in "safe account" scams, where fraudsters send convincing texts to trick customers into transferring funds from their accounts to a bogus "safe account," often via Revolut.
The bank warns customers to be vigilant and not call back the numbers provided in these texts, as Bank of Ireland will never ask customers to move their money for safety reasons.
Daily reports of this scam have surged to over ten times the number seen weekly in April and May.
