Governor Kay Ivey has appointed Alabama state Representative Cynthia Lee Almond as the new president of the Alabama Public Service Commission, replacing Twinkle Cavanaugh, who left to join the federal government.
Almond, a Republican from Tuscaloosa and an attorney with expertise in estate planning and business law, will be sworn in on June 16.
The Public Service Commission regulates utilities in the state.
