The U.S. Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against Texas to block a law that allows undocumented students to pay in-state tuition rates at public colleges. Passed in 2001, the Texas law is under scrutiny for potentially violating federal regulations that prohibit schools from offering benefits to undocumented students that U.S. citizens do not receive. The lawsuit, part of the Trump administration's efforts to restrict immigration, affects around 57,000 undocumented students enrolled in Texas public universities.
