Senior Met Police officer dismissed again for refusing drugs test, added to barred list.
Senior Metropolitan Police officer Commander Julian Bennett has been dismissed for the second time after refusing to take a drugs test. Initially fired in 2023 for not providing a urine sample, his dismissal was overturned by an appeals tribunal. However, a new misconduct hearing found him guilty of gross misconduct again. Bennett, a 45-year veteran, will be added to the College of Policing's barred list and remains suspended without pay. The Met is working to expedite such cases to avoid similar delays and waste of public funds.
