flag Former BC health official granted parole after 2 years for sexually assaulting a boy.

Former British Columbia health official Albert de Villiers has been granted full parole after serving less than two years of a 5.5-year sentence for sexually assaulting a boy. The Parole Board of Canada noted de Villiers posed a very low risk to reoffend, despite causing "serious harm" to the victim. Parole conditions bar him from accessing pornographic materials and being near people under 16.
