Ghanaian cedi gains over 30% against the US dollar, stabilizing due to improved exports and reserves.
The Ghanaian cedi has been appreciating against the US dollar, currently trading at about GH¢10.24 to $1, up over 30% since the year began.
This improvement is due to better export performance, higher remittances, and increased international reserves.
The Bank of Ghana expects a $360 million IMF payment in June to further stabilize the currency.
Analyst Nelson Cudjoe Kuagbedzi predicts the cedi could stabilize between GH¢11 and GH¢12 to $1 by year-end, attributing the gain to the government's spending restraint.
However, he warns that major expenditures could weaken the cedi.
