Birmingham appoints 36-year police vet Raymond Cochran as interim deputy chief.
Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin has appointed 36-year police veteran Captain Raymond Cochran as the interim deputy chief of patrol operations.
Cochran, who has served in various key roles within the Birmingham Police Department, including narcotics and tactical operations, took on this role following the retirement of Deputy Chief Onree Pruitt.
The position of assistant chief, vacated by Edmond Hanks, will not be filled immediately.
Cochran also has a 29-year military service background with the U.S. Army Reserve.
