Nigerian watchdog sues over $1.23 billion missing from national petroleum funds.

A Nigerian watchdog group, SERAP, has sued the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) over missing ₦500 billion ($1.23 billion) from the Federation Account between October and December 2024. The World Bank reported that NNPC failed to remit this amount from ₦1.1 trillion in revenues. SERAP demands NNPC to account for the funds and calls for an investigation into their disappearance, alleging it has worsened Nigeria's economic troubles.
