ICARDA boosts dryland farming through global partnerships, focusing on resilient crops and sustainable systems.

ICARDA, an agricultural research center, is actively participating in global events and collaborations to enhance dryland agriculture. They recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Moroccan agencies to improve research in oasis zones, and their genebank in Syria holds over 152,000 plant accessions, crucial for breeding resilient crops. ICARDA also promotes underutilized species like sorghum and millet, which are well-suited to harsh climates, and has introduced silvopastoral systems in Tunisia, which combine trees, livestock, and crops to boost productivity and sustainability.
