Coalition gathers signatures to overturn L.A. ordinance raising minimum wage to $22.50 at hotels and airports.
The Los Angeles Alliance for Tourism, Jobs and Progress, a coalition of airlines, hotels, and concession companies at LAX, is gathering signatures to overturn a city ordinance that raises the minimum wage for hotel and airport workers to $22.50 an hour, increasing to $30 by 2028.
Critics argue the wage hike will lead to job cuts and business closures, while supporters say it's needed to improve living conditions for workers.
The coalition aims to collect 93,000 signatures by June 30 to place the issue on the 2026 ballot.
