WWII veteran Donald Rose, 110, receives "Freedom of Erewash" honor at his care home.
An 110-year-old World War II veteran, Donald Rose, was awarded the "Freedom of Erewash" at his care home in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, by the youngest mayor ever, 25-year-old Harry Atkinson.
Rose, a survivor of the D-Day landings and the UK's oldest man, received the highest honor a local authority can give, recognizing his service in the war.
The ceremony also marked the 80th anniversary of VE and VJ Days.
