India extends IndiGo's lease on Turkish Boeing planes until August, easing flight worries amid tensions.
India's aviation regulator has granted IndiGo a three-month extension until August 31 to operate two leased Boeing 777 aircraft from Turkish Airlines, allowing the airline to avoid immediate flight disruptions.
The extension comes amid geopolitical tensions between India and Turkey over the latter's support for Pakistan.
IndiGo initially requested a six-month extension but was granted only three months.
The airline plans to terminate the lease by the deadline and seeks to develop its own wide-body aircraft fleet starting in 2027 with Airbus A350-900 deliveries.
