The Chicago Cubs signed left-handed pitcher Génesis Cabrera to a one-year contract, designating right-handed pitcher Brooks Kriske for assignment to make room on the roster. Cabrera, 28, previously played for the Mets, Cardinals, and Blue Jays, posting a 3.52 ERA in seven relief games this year. Kriske, 31, had only two scoreless innings with the Cubs before being DFA'd.
