Texas Governor Greg Abbott called for the death penalty against Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez and Maikel Coello Perozo, undocumented immigrants from Venezuela, accused in the death of 18-year-old Ava Moore, a US Air Force Academy cadet candidate. Gonzalez is charged with second-degree felony manslaughter after a Jet Ski hit Moore's kayak on Grapevine Lake. Despite Abbott's call, the death penalty is not applicable unless intentional killing is proven under Texas law.
