The Indian government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has increased the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for 14 kharif crops for the 2025-26 season to boost farmer incomes and encourage crop diversification.
The MSP for paddy has risen by 3% to ₹2,369 per quintal, while pulses and oilseeds saw an increase of up to 9%.
The highest MSP hike was for nigerseed, at ₹820 per quintal, followed by ragi, cotton, and sesamum.
The move aims to improve farmers' profits and nutritional security.
