A massive landslide caused by a large chunk of the Birch Glacier breaking off has destroyed nearly 90% of Blatten, a village in Switzerland's southern Lotschental valley. The regional government had evacuated around 300 residents and all livestock due to the risk of a glacier collapse. The incident also buried the nearby Lonza Riverbed, raising concerns about potential dammed water flows. Authorities are assessing the damage and searching for any casualties.
