Nigerian officials seized $15.5 million worth of opioids and arrested four drug smugglers.

Nigerian authorities have seized opioids and codeine-based cough syrup worth N6.5 billion ($15.5 million) at seaports in Lagos and Rivers. The drugs were hidden in containers tracked by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). Additionally, two British nationals and two Nigerians were arrested for attempting to smuggle cannabis into the country. Recent operations by NDLEA have also led to the destruction of cannabis farms and other drug seizures.
