flag Irish health chief proposes integrating Children's Health Ireland into national service amid care and governance concerns.

The head of Ireland's Health Service Executive (HSE), Bernard Gloster, has said that Children's Health Ireland (CHI) could be fully integrated into the HSE due to concerns over clinical care and governance. This follows reports of unnecessary hip surgeries on children and misuse of public waiting lists. If evidence of financial misconduct is found, Gloster will refer staff to the police. The decision will be made by the Health Minister, Jennifer Carroll MacNeill.
