An Army helicopter lost contact with air traffic controllers for around 20 seconds near the Pentagon on May 1st, causing two commercial jets to abort their landings at Washington's Ronald Reagan National Airport. The incident occurred after a deadly midair collision in January killed 67 people and highlighted safety concerns. The temporary control tower antenna was not set up to maintain contact with the low-flying helicopter. The Army has paused all flights to and from the Pentagon as it works with the FAA to address these safety issues.
