A 28-year-old Italian tourist was held captive and tortured for over two weeks in a luxury Manhattan apartment by 37-year-old crypto entrepreneur John Woeltz. The victim, lured to New York under false pretenses, was deprived of his passport and subjected to various forms of abuse. He escaped and alerted the police, leading to Woeltz's arrest on charges including kidnapping and assault. Police found Polaroid photos and torture devices at the scene.
