Shane Scanlon, a 35-year-old former Irish soldier with 18 years of service, was sentenced to four years in prison for storing €27,000 worth of cocaine in his room at Collins Barracks in Cork.
Scanlon, who resigned from the Defence Forces after his arrest, admitted to drug dealing due to financial pressures.
Authorities found drug paraphernalia and €1,100 in cash during the raid on March 27, 2024.
The judge suspended the last year of his sentence.
