Inmarsat, now part of Viasat, has signed a deal with Japanese shipping company MOL to upgrade its fleet's service to NexusWave.
This upgrade will enhance digital capabilities, providing high-speed internet, global coverage, and advanced cybersecurity, turning vessels into floating offices and homes.
Local partner JSAT MOBILE Communications will handle the implementation.
The service has shown download speeds up to 340 Mbps and upload speeds up to 80 Mbps in tests, with the upcoming ViaSat-3 Ka-band network promising even faster speeds.
