Teen drug, alcohol, and cigarette use drops in Europe, but e-cigarette and online gambling rates rise.
Teenage use of alcohol, cigarettes, and illegal drugs is declining across Europe, including Ireland, according to a study by the EU Drugs Agency.
The survey of nearly 114,000 students in 37 countries shows alcohol use dropped from 88% in 1995 to 74% in 2024, and cigarette smoking from 68% to 32%.
However, e-cigarette use and online gambling have increased, raising new public health concerns.
