Indian tax filers face delays as e-filing utilities for the 2024-25 year remain unreleased.

The Indian Income Tax Department has yet to release e-filing utilities for the 2025-26 Assessment Year, delaying taxpayers' ability to file their 2024-25 income tax returns. The department has not set a release date but may start with simpler forms like ITR-1 and ITR-4 in late May or early June. Meanwhile, the Central Board of Direct Taxes has updated the ITR-U form, extending the filing deadline to 48 months and adding penalties of up to 70% for late filings.
