Teacher wins £370,000 compensation for unfair dismissal after being targeted for union work.
A primary school teacher with 30 years of experience, Carmen Wood-Hope, won £370,000 in compensation after an industrial tribunal found her dismissal from The Friars Primary School in Salford to be unfair and discriminatory.
The tribunal ruled that she was targeted for being the National Education Union representative, with the headteacher acting out of personal animosity.
Despite the ruling in her favor, Wood-Hope has only received about £240,000 due to disputes over tax liabilities.
