Nigerian APC denies plans for one-party state, clarifies recent opposition defections.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria, through its National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, has denied plans to turn the country into a one-party state despite recent defections from opposition parties.
Morka clarified that these defections do not indicate a move towards eliminating opposition and emphasized Nigeria remains a pluralist democracy under the Constitution.
He also noted that when the PDP was in power, it controlled over 28 states without facing similar accusations.
Prince Adewole Adebayo of the Social Democratic Party echoed these sentiments, stating Nigeria's diversity makes a one-party system unrealistic.
