A federal judge in Virginia ordered the release of Badar Khan Suri, a Georgetown University scholar, who was detained by ICE on charges of spreading pro-Hamas propaganda. Judge Patricia Tolliver Giles ruled that Suri's detention violated the First Amendment. Suri, an Indian national living in Virginia with his American wife and children, was arrested in March. The judge rejected the government's claim that his visa revocation justified his detention.
