Alberta freezes carbon price at $95/tonne to protect jobs amid U.S.-Canada tariff dispute.
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has announced an indefinite freeze on the province's industrial carbon price at $95 per tonne, aiming to maintain industry competitiveness and protect jobs amid the U.S.-Canada tariff dispute.
The price was scheduled to increase to $110 per tonne in 2026 and reach $170 by 2030.
Environment Minister Rebecca Schulz assured that the freeze does not mean abandoning emission reduction goals.
