Wyoming faces lawsuit over new voting law that demands proof of citizenship and residency.
The Equality State Policy Center filed a lawsuit against Wyoming's new House Bill 156, which requires proof of U.S. citizenship and state residency for voting, arguing it violates state and federal laws and disproportionately affects women, Hispanics, young, and low-income voters.
The law, supported by Secretary of State Chuck Gray, will take effect July 1 and first apply to the 2026 primary election, unless blocked by a federal judge.
Governor Mark Gordon expressed concerns about the law's legality.
