Two school buses from New Prairie United School Corporation, carrying student athletes, were involved in a four-vehicle crash in La Porte County, Indiana, on May 8, 2025. The crash, which also involved a box truck and another vehicle, resulted in several injuries, with at least one student flown to a hospital. Games for the New Prairie JV and Varsity baseball teams were cancelled, and the La Porte County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident as a criminal matter. Roadways were closed but later reopened.
