Man reported with gun headed to hospital; arrested, taken for mental health eval in Fernie, BC.

Police in Fernie, British Columbia, apprehended a 48-year-old man who was reported to be headed to the Elk Valley Hospital with a firearm and threatening to harm himself. The Elk Valley RCMP and the Southeast District Containment Team located the man on 2nd Avenue and took him into custody under the Mental Health Act. No firearms were found, and the man was taken to the hospital for evaluation. The investigation is ongoing.
