Alireza Doroudi, an Iranian doctoral student at the University of Alabama, has chosen to return to Iran voluntarily after being detained by ICE. Initially arrested due to a revoked student visa, the Department of Homeland Security recognized that the arrest was based on an error. Despite legal uncertainties and the revocation charge no longer standing, Doroudi opted for voluntary departure to avoid prolonged detention.
