IAG, parent of British Airways, reports €198m Q1 profit, tripling earnings amid strong travel demand.
International Airlines Group (IAG), parent company of British Airways and Aer Lingus, reported a stronger-than-expected first-quarter profit of €198m, nearly tripling its operating earnings.
The company attributed the success to strong demand, especially on transatlantic routes, and cost-cutting measures.
IAG also announced plans to order 53 new long-haul aircraft and has seen a reduction in Aer Lingus's losses.
Despite global economic uncertainties, IAG expects continued demand in its core markets.
