Danish cyclist Mads Pedersen won the opening stage of the 2025 Giro d'Italia, securing the first pink jersey in a sprint finish against Belgian rider Wout van Aert. The 160km stage from Durrës to Tirana, Albania, saw a crash involving Spanish cyclist Mikel Landa. The race remains in Albania for two more days before heading to Italy on May 13th and concluding in Rome on June 1st.
