Chester Zoo is using a "Blind Date" method to encourage a rare Malagasy fossa, Zaza, who came from San Diego Zoo, to mate with a female resident, Shala, as part of a conservation effort. The zoo will gradually introduce the fossas, who naturally live alone, using a sliding screen. Fossas are highly threatened, with fewer than 2,500 remaining in the wild, and this breeding program aims to boost their population.
